Even if it is one sentence like " OMG I ate 3 whoppers from Burger King."! and date it. This journal will make you remeber just how funny things were while pregnant. Four months pregnant is kind of a big deal. Lots of exciting and kind of scary things occur this month as you get closer and closer to the big arrival.
Common Pregnancy Symptoms at Four Months Pregnant
Although you might not experience all of them, these pregnancy symptoms are common during the fourth month of pregnancy:
- Weight gain
- Itchy skin around your growing tummy and breasts

A cool jelly is rubbed on your tummy, and a wand is passed over your bump. A grainy image of your baby can be seen on a screen next to the bed.
Four Months Pregnant: Changes Inside and Out
Your Baby’s Development: Though your baby is still tiny, he’s already developing all kinds of features — even eyebrows and eyelashes. Amazingly, your baby now even has his very own fingerprints. Plus, he may soon have a crop of hair on his head.
Your baby may also be hiccupping and yawning — it’s tiring work doing all that growing.
Changes to Your Body: At four months pregnant, perhaps between weeks 18 and 20, you may sense your baby moving for the first time. The sensation will feel like butterflies fluttering in your tummy. What a sweet time.
You might notice that your breathing is getting a little more labored; this is because your growing baby is starting to push up against your lungs. This pressure will continue until your baby “drops” deeper into your pelvis just ahead of birth.

Five Months Pregnant: Changes Inside and Out
Your Baby’s Development: Your baby is putting on weight, and her facial features are all in place. At this stage, she still has quite a bit of wiggle room, so you’ll be feeling your little one kicking, punching, and rolling around. These moves signal a healthy baby, so, although they might be annoying at times (especially at night while you’re trying to sleep), they’re definitely a good sign.
Changes to Your Body: There are many positives during this month of pregnancy, such as continuing to enjoy that energy boost. Many pregnant women will also experience a pregnancy "glow" and will look more radiant. Your belly continues to grow (triggering some of the pregnancy symptoms mentioned above), but it may not be so big yet that you can’t get around with relative ease. As your tummy grows, you might notice that your belly button pokes out. You might also notice some changes in the texture and growth of your nails.
Adjusting to Your Pregnancy Body
You’re doing an important job by providing a safe home for your growing baby, but this doesn’t mean you’ll always feel fully comfortable with your new shape. During the second trimester, enjoy getting some comfortable and flattering maternity clothes, either at local stores or online.
You may wonder how to respond when you get advice, questions, and comments about your pregnancy from strangers and loved ones alike. One good strategy is to thank them, letting them know you’ll think about what they've said, and leave it at that.
You may have already chosen to share your news with your boss and others at your workplace and begun maternity leave plans. At five months pregnant, it’s worth starting to plan how you will hand over your responsibilities to your colleagues so that you’re not leaving big, stressful jobs until the third trimester.

Sign up for prenatal classes: Many prenatal classes will start in the next month or two, so sign up to get as much support and information as you can.
Talk to your baby: Your baby is learning to recognize your voice and can hear better than before. Make a habit of talking, singing, or reading to your baby every day.
Know the signs of preterm labor: Now is the time to keep an eye out for the signs of preterm labor. Contact your doctor right away if you think you might be in preterm labor.
Use that energy boost: That second trimester surge in energy provides an opportunity to exercise, travel, prepare your home for your baby, and tie up any other loose ends.
Eat well: Your baby is growing rapidly at this point, and you might feel extra hungry. This is not the time to hold back on eating; instead, continue to eat a variety of healthy, nutritious foods.
Get comfortable: Explore comfortable ways to sleep, choose more comfortable shoes (especially if you’re experiencing swollen feet), find maternity wear that gives your growing body plenty of room to move and breathe, and choose maternity bras that support the changing shape of your growing breasts.

Your baby’s taste buds will also be able to taste, through the amniotic fluid, the different flavors of what you’re eating. That’s why you might notice a more active baby after eating spicy foods. Your baby’s heartbeat is loud enough to be heard through a stethoscope now, and your partner may even pick up these tiny beats by holding an ear against your belly.
Changes to Your Body: By month six, you will have gained quite a bit of weight as your baby grows. This will make spending prolonged stretches of time on your feet more uncomfortable, so put your feet up throughout the day whenever you can. Your size might also make finding a comfortable sleeping position more difficult; try using plenty of pillows to support you as you rest. The itchy skin you might feel as your skin stretches can be helped by applying moisturizer.
You might also experience swelling of your feet, ankles, hands, and face — call your doctor right away if the swelling is sudden or severe.
Get Creative and Organized
Use this time to do productive things like setting up your baby registry, helping your baby shower host plan the baby shower, decorating and preparing the nursery, and choosing a baby name. You can also shop for essentials that your newborn will need, like baby clothes, a stroller, and plenty of diapers.
Start Babyproofing Your Home and Car
Now's the time to think about, and make, safety preparations. This month, you can get a jump on babyproofing your home by setting up a safe nursery and tackling other big jobs as well. Once you have brought your baby home, you’ll have even less time, so now is a good time to install baby gates and childproof locks, put dangerous items out of reach, and anchor furniture (like drawers and dressers) to the wall.
It’s also important to babyproof your car. First and foremost, you’ll need to shop for an age-appropriate car seat. Once you choose one, get professional help installing it, so it’s all set for bringing your newborn home from the hospital.Thicker or darker hair on their head, or the growth of more facial hair due to hormonal changes.
